Volunteer Treasurer

The Oakwood Adventist Academy Alumni Association is seeking a dedicated and trustworthy Volunteer Treasurer to serve as a member of our leadership team. This individual will oversee the financial operations of the Association, helping ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship as we support scholarships, alumni engagement, fundraising initiatives, and special events. This is an excellent opportunity for an alumnus, supporter, or community member who enjoys finance, organization, and giving back to Oakwood Adventist Academy.
- Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for the Association.
- Receive, record, and deposit donations and other income.
- Pay approved Association expenses in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the Executive Board.
- Develop and monitor the annual operating budget.
- Assist with planning and tracking fundraising campaigns and special events.
- Ensure proper financial controls and documentation are maintained.
- Coordinate with the Association President and Executive Board on financial decisions.
- Assist with year-end financial reporting and preparation of any required tax documents.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all financial information.
Skills & Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with bookkeeping, accounting, banking, or financial management.
- Comfortable using spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets).
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is a plus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Honest, dependable, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers.
- Passion for supporting Oakwood Adventist Academy and its alumni.
- Time Commitment
- Approximately 4–8 hours per month
- Attend monthly Executive Board meetings (virtual or in person)
- Additional time during major fundraising campaigns and Alumni Weekend
