Why I Serve – Sandra Roper Brown

March 20, 2026 0 comments David Crawford

I serve because I love Oakwood Adventist Academy and want to see it continue to thrive. OAA shaped who I am, gave me lifelong friendships, introduced me to my husband, and grounded me in faith. Serving is my way of giving back to a place that has given me so much.

“Good, better, best. Never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is best!  ”

FUN FACTS

I played on a national collegiate travel flag football team during optometry school and I’m a licensed boater who loves to bake. I also try to walk about three miles most days. I hope to bring this same energy and consistency to my role as Vice President of the Alumni Association.

Quote:

“Lead the way you want to be led, and treat everyone with the same respect, no matter their title.”

Fun Fact:

I’m a proud Oakwood Academy alumna who loves writing, storytelling, community-building, traveling, and creating new recipes in the kitchen as a home cook.

Why I Serve:

I serve because Oakwood Adventist Academy’s legacy (formerly Oakwood College Academy) matters to me. This community helped shape who I am, and I believe in giving back through service, stewardship, and showing up in meaningful ways that honor our shared history and strengthen our future.
